Design and formatting

Book cover design

First impressions last, so make it count! When your book is sitting on a coffee table, it should scream out: “Pick me up and read me!”

At Inspire Publishing, we understand that one of the most important keys to a book’s success is the impact of its cover design. That’s why our design objective is simple:

Create striking designs with maximum audience appeal.

Our proven track record and studio process mean you benefit from the skills and experience of an entire design team in creating your cover design.

Our professional design team will work with you to create a unique book cover that will effectively convey your message and appeal to your audience.

Back cover copy

Once a reader has been attracted to your book through its title and cover design, they invariably turn it over to read the copy on the back cover.

By taking a fresh perspective on your work, our experienced marketing copywriters will create compelling promotional copy for your book. Upon your completion of a short questionnaire, they will develop:

  • a one-sentence description – a single marketable sentence that captures your book’s central theme
  • a short description – a single paragraph outlining your book’s key points of interest
  • an extended description – several paragraphs on your book’s content, suitable as a synopsis
  • the back cover text – a sales-focused blurb designed to attract attention and generate interest and discussion
  • an author biography – a snapshot of your background, giving readers insight into your story and your credibility on the subject.
  • an alternate cover text – an extended blurb that can be used on the inside of a dust jacket for hard-cover books or incorporated into the design of a soft-cover book.

Custom formatting (typesetting)

Well-executed formatting is essential in ensuring your book is easy to read. Design variables, such as white space, font choice and general layout, all impact on a book’s readability.

Our designers will create a unique layout based on the content and style of your book, including unlimited image placement (supplied by author) and your ISBN (provided by us). Our custom formatting (typesetting) service includes:

  • appropriate use of white space
  • correct use of paragraph indentations
  • appropriate choice of fonts, headers and footers
  • placement of images.

The selected and finalised design will be provided in PDF format.
